All I Want For Christmas

So now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, Christmas has arrived in full force. Mom and I took a walk downtown today, and all of the lights were up, decorations were everywhere... It was as if Thanksgiving came and went only so that Christmas could come... Humans are so odd. Whatever, I like Christmas. Mom put my Christmas collar on, the one with dog bones made to look like candy canes. It's quite festive, the two-leggeds get a kick out of it. We spent the better part of the day baking, some dog cookies made with cranberries left over from the holiday, some banana nut bread. I like when we bake :) Other than that and our walk, it's been pretty uneventful around here. I had a therapy dog visit a couple of weeks ago, so I have one this Tuesday. We didn't get to stay very long last time since my mom had a performance for the musical, but now that that is over we will be able to stick around. We haven't been able to take any pictures since the camera has been broken, but we are returning it soon so nice pictures should be on the rise again, soon. While we are on Thanksgiving break one of our assignments was to get our Christmas lists done. I help mom with hers and usually some of her list has to do with me. These are the things I want the most, and I might get some more if I am an especially good boy. The first picture, the 'Gourdo', looks like SO much fun in the water! But lets be honest, what isn't fun in the water? The thing underneath it is a food holder for when we go on camping and hiking trips and such. It holds 25 cups of food. Pretty nifty. The collars are from Earth Dog. They make hemp collars, I have the 'fat moe' one already, I don't know which one I want now. So many to choose from! Then I definitely want a dog pack for hiking, that would be really cool! And mom wants the collapsible crate, I don't think it's that bad, but why a crate? I like my crate at home, and that's it... Maybe that one will grow on me because it means we are going somewhere..... Well, I hope everyone had a great holiday full of yummy food and grrreat time spent with family and friends. I got some special dinner with gravy and carrots and cranberry sauce and a little turkey... Mmmm.... I am going to see my friends Flicka and Auntie Chris tomorrow for a fun play date. I love my romps with Flicka, we have so much fun together!!! I'll update soon, hopefully with pictures with some sort... Have a grrreat week! Bark to you later!

First Therapy Dog Visit and Dogs On the Diag

Hello everyone! Sorry it has been a while since I updated last, but we've been pretty busy! I had my very first therapy dog visit the other day! It was so great! It was both our Halloween visit, as well as our celebration party in honor of 12 years of pet therapy at Crittenton. How awesome is that?!?! It went really well, I was a very good boy and did very well with all of the patients and staff. It was a little hectic at first with all of the people and dogs in one tiny room, but it was better at the end. I visited ICU and joint surgery recoveries. I showed off all my tricks and was especially gentle with the people in bed. Yay for me :) We took a big group picture of all of the dogs, it's down below. I got tired and rested my head, which everyone thought was quite cute. I am such a ham :P There are also a lot of pictures from Dogs on the Diag. I went to that at U of M and represented TDI. It was good to hang out with all of my old PAWS friends. Not much else has happened. My mom went to Disney World with this cancer group last week so I stayed with grandpa and Bentley. I am CRAZY there. I just like to play and I know I can get away with stuff :P Ruh-roh!Well, I'll bark to you all later!

I'm Official! (Plus Some Other Stuff, Too)

I am officially a therapy dog! My paper work came in the mail just last week, and I go for my first official visit on Tuesday (will of course follow up with pictures and post later). Other than that, not much has happened. Mom has been really busy and hasn't been feeling too well. She is on a new medication that makes her feels sick and drowsy, so I have been with my grandpa a lot or with mom just chilling out. That's okay, though. I don't mind. Well, here are just a couple of random pictures. Some are of just me, others are of my doing the command "leash", and the others are of me with my friend, Moxi. Enjoy!

I DID IT!!!!!

Hello Everyone! Guess what? I am officially a therapy dog now! WOO HOO>I did so good on the test! I charmed everyone there, did really well on all of the portions, and I even did a good job of leaving the french fries alone for the "leave-it" portion! I am really happy, because now I'll be able to visit at the hospital. Mom's super excited, too. Well, I'll bark to you all later!

Studying

Hello Everyone! Hope all is well on your side of the fence. Things are going pretty good with me. Mom is doing pretty well, although she's stayed home from school a couple times this week because of her headaches, so I've been busy keeping her company. I have been studying hard for my upcoming test on Sunday. It was supposed to be last Saterday but it was cancelled due to the torrential downpour at the time. We even drove all the way to Lansing just to turn around! Oh well. I have already passed this test, but this time it will be a little different. It is called the Canine Good Citizen test, which I passed last winter, but now if I passed I'll be able to be an official therapy dog. I have to pass so that I can start visiting Crittenton Hospital again and possibly other places as well. I am really good at making people feel better so I know this will be a good job for me. Hopefully I pass! I have also been working really hard to learn some service dog tasks so I can help me grandma. Right now I am learning how to retrieve things. I am getting really good at it! I can already give my leash back to my mom when she drops it, pick up pens and pencils, clothes, coins, anything, really. Mom says she'll even teach me to help out with the laundry! I don't know what that means, but it sounds pretty special! I am making quick progress and will soon progress to picking up paper. I have to learn not to tear it, which is difficult when you have teeth! Well, I'll bark to you all later.Enjoy all the pictures!

Pictures, Pictures, and More Pictures.....

Hello Everyone! Mom is still at it with the picture taking! Sheesh, you'd think she'd give it a rest! Apparently I am just too cute to not get photographed every waking (and sleeping) moment! So, not much is new since I last posted. I have my therapy dog test on Saturday, so mom and I have been working extra hard to prepare me so I can pass. She's been really busy with school, homework, and band. She is also preparing her college essays, which is taking some serious time out of my walk schedule, but I guess we all have to make sacrifices every now and then. Well, I best be off. Bark to you all later!

Mom Got a New Camera... Guess What That Means......

Hey Everyone! It's been a LONG time since I updated on here. My mom has been super busy this summer, and she is my typest so my blog had to wait. So the summer was very good. I spent a lot of it at my grampa's house, playing with my brother Bentley. My mom's 17th birthday was on August 29 and she got a REALLY nice camera from our PAWS friends. I am happy for her, sure, but I have had that thing shoved in my face every day since then! Oh well, guess it could be worse! Her school started today, so now I go to grampa's in the mornings to hang out while she's learning about various things. I don't mind, but we get up EARLY! Today we got up at 6:15, and tomorrow we have to get up at 5:15 so she can go to band practice! WOAH! I was still half asleep when we left! Well, I gotta run. Enjoy this rediculous amount of new pictures, all taken with her new camera. Bark to you later,
Kayla
